Instructions and helpful hints
Safe
There is a small safe for valuables (passports, jewellery etc) in the left-hand hallway cupboard, opposite the WC. To open the safe key in *xxxx# (where xxxx is the apartment code) to lock the safe, just key in *#
Games
There is a boule set in the safe cupboard. There are a few board games, some playing cards and a couple of jigsaws in the cupboard under the TV
TV
There is a Freesat satellite receiver as well as an Apple TV and Now TV box attached to the TV on the wall in the lounge. The remotes for all these are in the top drawer under the TV. On the Panasonic remote, the top left button turns on the TV, the top right button scrolls through the different inputs. The last one marked VGA is the PC. If you wish to watch any of the ‘in-house’ movies, please scroll to Apple TV and then (using the small silver remote) click computers\home movies
There is also a windows 10 PC with Microsoft Office installed. The TV acts as the screen for the PC and there is a Logitech cordless keyboard and mouse under the small coffee table. (check the keyboard is turned on – small button on top edge) You should sign in as "Upper flat guest" and the password for the PC is the usual apartment code.
Music
There is a Sonos wireless music system in the apartment which will connect to most radio stations and also has an ‘in-house’ music library. You can access the Sonos system in a number of ways, either use the small white controllers in the lounge or bedroom, or download the free apple or android apps once connected to our Wi-Fi, or finally there is a Sonos controller on the PC. There is also a Sonos iPod dock (with a lightening adapter) so you can play music from your iPod or iPhone through the Sonos system. If you need any help with accessing the system, please don’t hesitate to ask us. One last plea, please respect the neighbours when playing music on the terrace at night and keep the volume to a reasonable level – Thank you.
Broadband Wi-Fi.
The Wi-Fi covers the apartment and the upper terrace although it can be a little patchy around the pool terrace. The Wi-Fi SSID id is: apsley_L and the code is the apartment code twice (i.e: xxxxxxxx)
Front door keys.
There is a set of keys in the small black key-safe on the wall, on the left as you walk out the front door. The code is the usual one for the apartment. We would suggest you leave the keys in the key safe when you go out for the day or night and even when you are in the apartment. The front door can be locked from inside using the thumb-turn on the deadbolt. We would suggest that you keep the deadbolt on when in the apartment, as from the terrace or the pool, you won't hear or see the front door.
Shutters and terrace door keys.
There is a bunch of keys hanging on a nail high on the left of the kitchen door. The large key fits the external kitchen shutter and the small round key fits all the terrace doors. (to lock the terrace doors you first need to pull the handle up and then turn the key). We would suggest that you close the shutters at night and when you leave the property in the day. Please use the shutters on the bedrooms at night, as there are no curtains and otherwise the sun will wake you at about 5:30.
When you do open the shutters, it would be great if you could pin them back against the walls using the stays fixed to the outside walls, otherwise the wind can slam them quite badly.
There is a small square key in the safe. This is a door key for the Pool Room (the large double doors adjacent to the pool on the lower terrace) - just in case the (sometimes erratic) power trips and you need to reset it. The trip and the fuse board are on the right as you enter the Pool Room. There is a torch in the hall cupboard, next to the safe.
Iron and ironing board.
Can be found in the wardrobe in the main bedroom.
Swimming Pool
The Pool cover is there for your safety as well as to keep the pool clean. The cover will take an adults weight should someone fall in (tested only last week !). It is French law that the cover must be closed if the pool is unattended at any time. The cover must also be closed overnight or if you leave the apartment in the day. The pool cover is electrically operated and the switch is on the wall to the left of the Pool Room doors. The key should be kept in the small blue key box to the right of the lower front door (out of reach of small children)
Glass around the pool
Please under no circumstances take any glass bottles or drinking glasses onto the pool terrace. If any get broken the pool must be drained which costs €1600.00 in water alone. Plastic glasses and jugs are provided in the apartments (so please decant your wine)
Games
There is a boule set in the cupboard in the smaller bedroom. There are a few board games, some playing cards and a couple of jigsaws in the cupboard under the TV
Barbecue & Outdoor Cooking
The Broil king BBq on the terrace is a gas BBq. To operate, please turn on the gas on the top of the gas bottle (accessed via the two doors on the front of the BBq) Next push in and turn the middle burner knob to ‘Power Zone’ and press the ignition button ( in the middle of the front panel). When you have finished using the BBQ, turn any burners right down and turn off the gas on the top of the bottle, letting any gas burn through the system.
If you are a purist, a traditional charcoal BBq is available, please just ask.
There is a raclette machine on top of the oven housing (this can be used out on the terrace table by using the short white extension lead on top of the same cupboard)
